If you see acne starting to form, do not hesitate! See a dermatologist and allow them to help when acne shows up. Early treatment is the best treatment.
There are many products being sold over the counter to treat acne scars, and existing acne. There are many lotions, gels, and creams that can get the job done in some cases. You should ask a doctor before using one or more than one product to prevent negative side effects.
If over the counter treatment or prescribed creams are not working, there is still hope. A few treatments to get rid of acne scars are:
Laser Treatment, Not too painful because a local anesthetic is in order. The process can be quick or last up to an hour. The skin will take time to heal so you can plan on being in the house for upwards of a week or so after the treatment.
Chemical peels, If you are scared of the laser or just want to try another alternative, a chemical peel is a great way to get rid of acne scars. Chemical peels typically work more effectively on shallow pitted scars as apposed to deeper Ice pick scars. People with sensitive skin have claimed extreme burning and have had to stop treatment mid stream and give up on the chemical peel.
Dermabrasion, Very affective at removing acne scar tissue, maybe even the best method. While under anesthetic the doctor will use a brush to reshape scar tissue and remove damaged surface skin. Dermabrasion does not always remove deeper scars.
If you are affected by acne scars you must really research all your alternatives to find out what treatment will work best for you. Many factors come in to play for different treatments, such as skin color, skin tone, life style, age, and the cause of the acne.
