Tips for Healthy Skin
Though there are many skincare products and treatments available, natural skincare is always better. The most natural way to care for skin is to supply natural nutrients that it requires. Water or moisture is the most important nutrient to our skin. Without water, our skin will be dry, sensitive and inelastic.
Insufficient moisture in skin (cells) does not only cause dry skin, but also a lot of skin problems, for example, aging. In fact, water is the most powerful anti aging substance for our skin. Moisture in our skin is lost to external environment easily (e.g. difference in indoor and outdoor temperature). Therefore, it is necessary to replenish water or moisture to our body and skin regularly.
The easiest way to supply water or moisture to cells (skin cells) is drinking water. Moisture can be obtained from foods that we eat instead of water alone. Rice, Pasta, meat, vegetable and fruit contain large amount of water (moisture). For example, vegetable and fruits contain approximately 70 percent of water. You may obtain 300 to 400 ml of water from 500 grams of vegetable and fruit.
Water obtained from foods and drinks may be lost through sweat and urine. Therefore, it is important to lock them up in our skin. Locking up of moisture is actually the concept of moisturizing. Skin's outermost layer, stratum corneum helps prevent moisture loss. There are natural moisturizing factors and hydroxide radical that help retain moisture. They can retain as much as 400 times of moisture more than their own weight.
Skin dryness is caused by both epidermis hydropenia and dermis hydropenia. Hydropenia in dermis is often a result of aging, health and emotion problems. This situation may be improved by developing healthy habits. Hydropenia in epidermis is often caused by improper skincare procedures. These may include cleansing face with hot water and insufficient sun care.
According to medical researches, laughing helps reduce anxiety and emotional problems, and hence maintain skin health. Therefore, it is suggested to maintain good mood while applying skincare products.
