Makeup Looks for the Spring 2009 Season

Well, spring is almost here. As the winter clothes come off, a new you waits to burst forth. No one wants to greet the warmer weather unless they look their best. You can put your best face and foot forward with this forecast for the spring 2009 makeup season.

Do you have a favorite facial feature? If it's your eyes, we've got some advice for you. The smoky look has resurfaced for another season. Give that alluring mysterious look the time it's due. It can be worn at work or during evening fun. Flirty eye shadows and dark liners will keep them guessing.

Want the smoky look but don't know how to get it? Start by applying a dark shade of eye liner to your upper and lower eye lids along the lash line. On the upper lid, use a metallic or pastel shade of color. Smudge the two together on the upper lid and slightly smudge the lower liner to create the look you want.

False eyelashes go well with the smoky look. Avoid going too big unless the party warrants it. When you apply false eyelashes, keep the longer lashes towards the outer eye area.

You can tone down your smoky look during the day with softer features overall. Keep your face looking natural with mineral makeup foundation and a hint of color with mineral blush. Minerals blend with your skin for a flawless lightweight look and feel. Your eyes will still be the center of attention with a flawless face to complement them.

Mineral makeup comes in a variety of colors for eyes, cheeks and foundation. Before putting on any makeup, it is best to prep the face with a foundation. Mineral foundations are light and hide fine lines and wrinkles. The trend for blush is warm pinkish tones that complement the skin. With mineral blush, you can find a tone to bring out the warm highlights in any skin tone.

If you like, add a bit of shimmer. Crme makeup adds metallic sparkle for eyes and lips. These colors work best in the evening when you are out on the town.

Who could forget about lips? This season, make a statement with understated lip color that attracts attention. Remember to keep it as natural as possible with pink and peaches. Use a lip liner in a similar shade to outline your lips and prevent the "bleeding" effect of lipstick.

The soft look of lips is complemented with a softer look to the eyes. Stick with one coat of mascara so you don't look like you are trying out for a part in a horror movie. Lighter shades of eye color like lilac also add to the simple yet sexy look.

Dull skin can be spruced up with a few splashes of color. Add some red to your lips. For your cheeks, sweep a bit of bronzer along the underside of the cheekbone. It creates a pouty look to your face.

Throw off that winter face with darker metallic tones and go for pretty but simple. This spring you can add some color while keeping the natural look to your face.
