Getting Rid of Acne by Following Some Basic Principles
Getting rid of acne is something we have all had to study from time to time, as acne does not discriminate! We have all fallen victim to a pimple here and a pimple there, unfortunately for some it is far more than that. There are some who suffer the effects acne from childhood into adulthood. However, for all of us, there are basic principles we should follow when getting rid of acne.
The first basic principle is stop touching your face! For that matter, stop yourself from touching any zit prone area on your body. For many touching our face is a subconscious behavior. This is a great reason to wash your hands frequently as you have oils on your hands that might clog your follicles and pores. This is not only a way to create problems, but you guessed it. Worsen them too!
Secondly, it is a good basic principle to eat a well balanced diet. This is a widely argued about point, but come on, who does not benefit from a balanced diet of fruit, veggies, high fiber and lean protein. The health benefits are numerous, not to mention diets high in fat and sugar are thought to contribute to bad or oily skin.
Next, daily cleansing of your face is essential. In fact, twice a day is sometimes necessary. You should try to avoid basic soap and body soaps because they have ingredients that could clog or irritate your pores. You should buy cleansers made especially for getting rid of pimples.
Fourth, when getting rid of acne it is essential that you moisturize. Although this could appear counterintuitive, it is not, as you are not using oil on your face. In fact, if you are using good facial moisturizer it will be oil free and non comedogenic. Lotion should be applied two times a day for healthy, supple skin.
Another acne fighting measure is to treat from within. If acne is a persistent problem, then use a supplement that is designed to aid you in getting rid of acne.
Also, changing your sheets often or regularly could be beneficial. Your pillowcase is haven for oils from your hands and face. So if clearing acne is your mission, then changing your pillowcase several times per week could be helpful.
Next, it is crucial that you remove your make-up every night before bed. Well, I don't care when you do this often ignored piece of advice, but you should not sleep in make-up, it will contribute to your acne whoes.
You absolutely should not pop, pick or squeeze your pimples. This is a big no, no. By doing so, you are contributing to the infection, the spread of acne and prolonging the healing time of blackheads and whiteheads. It might be tempting, but leave them alone!
Another aid in your fight, is to wash your face gently. If you scrub your skin, it only adds to already irritated skin. Instead, use the pads of your fingers while rubbing in a gentle circular motion.
Last, but not least, you should be patient. When clearing acne you should be very, very patient. You have to give your self some time to improve.
Getting rid of acne is a life long quest for some, but for most proper, sustained care will provide you with healthy, vibrant skin.
