Blackhead Popping, Follow These Easy Steps For Efficient Blemish Removal
Blackhead popping is just one blackhead treatment method and it can be very successful if you take care to learn the right way to do it. If you do not, the result will be that the debris inside the blackhead will be dispersed under the surface of your skin instead of being removed and you will end up with a red blemish that looks even worse than the original blackhead!
For blackhead popping to be successful, you need to begin by cleansing the area thoroughly to minimise any possible breakout caused by a bacterial infection. Follow this by exfoliating using a very gentle exfoliator or scrub or a Hydroxy Acid type product. This will help to remove dead skin cells and other debris from the area you are working on. Using an exfoliating cream or scrub helps to open up the pores but if you can use a steamer afterwards, or use a very warm washcloth on the area, this will really help to open the pores more in order to make it the removal as easy as possible.
Before you start out on your blackhead popping, it is important to put on lightweight disposable gloves or cover your fingertips by winding a tissue around them. This not only gives you a better grip, but will prevent you damaging your skin with your fingernails. Apply a fingertip each side of the blemish and pull them gently apart. This stretches the skin; when you push your fingertips together again, press down as well so that you create a little mound of skin containing the blackhead between your fingers. By applying pressure under the blemish, you will find it a lot easier to push out the contents of the blocked pore.
If you have problems with the above procedure, don't keep trying until you make your skin sore and red - leave it for another day and just keep using your normal skin care products to soften your skin, exfoliate and open your pores. In a day or two, you can try again and should be successful this time.
Make sure you use an antiseptic wipe after you have done a blackhead popping treatment as this will get rid of any bacteria on your skin. A nice treatment to apply after this is a really gently face mask containing clay which will not only soothe your skin but it will help to refine your pores too. Leave the face mask on for the time directed - this is usually around ten minutes and after this, you can rinse with warm water and a clean wash cloth before gently patting your skin dry again.
After this, you are nearly done. If you are going out, use a product called a mattifier which not only helps to refine your skin but reduces oily shine on your face if this is a problem for you. If you need to use a cosmetic concealer product on any blemishes after treatment, choose one containing zinc oxide or other antiseptic. If you use the method I have described, blackhead popping will be easy and you will soon be blemish free.
