Dolce and Gabbana Perfume

Born in Sicily in 1958, Domenico Dolce studied fashion and worked in the family's small clothing factory, where his father was a tailor. Moving to Milan, he got a job at a famous design studio, honing his passion to create clothing for people based on what he thinks they feel.

Stefano Gabbana wasn't born into the trade, but cut his teeth as a graphic designer and went on to the field of advertising. However, he became intrigued with the world of fashion and in 1980, he began working with Domenico Dolce at a design studio where he rapidly got up to speed on fashion design.

By the time 1982 rolled around, Dolce and Gabbana had begun producing designs for other manufacturers on a freelance basis, leading to the 1985 launch of their women's line. Their designs were quickly adopted by the rich and famous, being worn by celebrities including Nicole Kidman, Madonna and Demi Moore, among others. Their clothing was distinctive for its bold, bright colors, use of animal prints, stripes and other eye-catching elements. Stylish, yet casual, Dolce and Gabbana had firmly established itself as a big name in the industry, winning the Woolmark Award in 1990.

Further successes included the creation of costumes for Madonna's Girlie Show tour in 1993 and the launch of Dolce & Gabbana shops around the world. The company's offerings soon expanded to include a line of menswear and their own line of fragrances as well.

In 1996, Dolce and Gabbana even released a single; this techno tune consisted of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabba repeating the words "D&G is love" over a pulsing dance beat. The pair had once promised to retire at the age of 40, but much to the acclaim of the fashion world, they have not made good on this pledge and continue to produce award winning designs to this day.

Dolce and Gabbana women's fragrances include Pour Femme, the 1993 International Perfume Academy's Best Women's Fragrance winner. With a sweet yet sharp aroma, this is a strong but feminine fragrance which allows the wearer to make a statement without saying a word.

Another favorite from D&G is Light Blue for Women, an eau de toilette with floral, fruity aromas and just a hint of musk. There's also a note of Sicilian citron, something which is no doubt a fondly remembered scent by Domenico Dolce's childhood. Feminine, chic and sexy, this is a favorite of many women.
