Dangerous Chemicals In Skin Care Products

If I asked you to eat my anti aging skin care cream would you have the courage to do it?

I'm certain you're thinking this is a silly thing to say but if you use skin care products and appreciate your health then you certainly should be able to eat skin care products.

I'm in no doubt that you already realize or at least have a feeling that you cannot trust skin care product manufacturers and their remarkable sounding marketing claims. Their biggest industry secret which they don't want you to know is that their products can put you at risk for potentially damaging long term side effects because of a number of chemicals they use in their skincare formulas. This absolutely includes the well-known, big brand names.

If their manufacturing shortcuts and secrets became extensively known, their profits would take a hit. Once you know the specifics about the unsafe ingredients they use, you will see exactly what health dangers and risks you're up against.

UNSAFE CHEMICALS

Why do skincare companies make use of hazardous chemicals in their products?

Well, as you can guess, it all comes down to the powerful dollar. Bottom line profits! Your health and safety comes in a far-off second to their multi million dollar profits. This is chiefly because of shareholder pressures (ie. GREED!)

Skin care companies manufacture to a prearranged price - and this is the core of the problem! The scientists and chemists who put together their products do not get a free hand in selecting ALL the very best and most efficient ingredients. They are set an upper budget constraint and they must formulate within that budget! This results in the inclusion of much cheaper chemicals in place of natural options and pitifully tiny dose amounts of the truly effective active ingredients.

Here's an case in point: One of the skin care industry's giants, an 'elite' brand (it starts with the letter C), uses a dreadful chemical in their facial skin care formulas which is classified as a pesticide. It's called TRICLOSAN - an anti-bacterial chemical which kills dangerous organisms on the skin BUT also destroys helpful bacteria! There is clinical data to indicate triclosan may be a factor to creating strains of bacteria that are unaffected by to antibiotics since it is so broadly used use in skin care products.

Why would any of us in our right minds let a chemical used in weed killers to be absorbed into our bodies!

So, here is the bottom line when it comes to anti aging facial skin care creams and the like. Their purity should be so good that you could quite safely eat them! This certainly should be the regulated norm for the manufacture of skin care products not to mention your highest priority when selecting anti aging skin care products. The simple reason that all skin care formulas should be pure enough to eat is because the active ingredients in them are absorbed into your bloodstream! This is exactly the same result as eating them!

Unsurprisingly it's more costly to use naturally sourced options. Sourcing high-quality, 100% natural moisturizing oils, vegetable-based waxes and silicones, reparative proteins, antioxidants, vitamins and plant extracts are a lot more expensive. Shareholder pressures in the big multi nationals just don't allow the fully natural choice to have a look in. They are absolutely focused on maintaining and growing their staggeringly excessive profit margins.

THE LOWDOWN ON 'NATURAL INGREDIENTs'

Now, let's talk about the phrase 'natural ingredient'. Have you ever taken a really good look at the ingredients list on an "All Natural" anti aging facial skin care product? In spite of the 'All Natural' claims, there's a quantity of pretty frightening and absolutely chemical sounding names in those lists. But the skin care company might not actually be lying to you so let me give an explanation.

Ingredients are listed with their INCI names which is an global scientific categorization for all ingredients. This allows for consistency from product to product and allows consumers to simply compare ingredients across brands. INCI stands for "International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients" So, naturally sourced ingredients listed using their INCI label can and do appear to be chemicals even though they are not.

However the INCI name can be misleading! It does not differentiate between an ingredient that is derived from petroleum and another which is derived from a natural plant source if the end substance broadly has a similar structure.

Here's an example for you - 'Glycerine'. You'll find this ingredient in skin care formulas as a humectant. What you absolutely want is natural plant based glycerine. But most companies use petroleum-based glycerine because it's drastically cheaper. Plant based glycerine is entirely safe to consume. Who wants petroleum-based glycerine absorbed into their body?

SKIN CARE PRODUCTS - YOUR BOTTOM LINE

Clearly you need to be very particular with the skin care products you choose to use. The bottom line when comparing and sizing up brands is that you consider both purity (ie. No chemicals whatsoever - safe enough to eat) AND efficacy (number and dose amount of leading active ingredients).

The type of skin care company you should buy from is the type who orders their formulators to put together the very best formulas possible that actually work and are totally safe enough to eat, and which prices their products realistically according to the expense of manufacture while settling for a reasonable profit. A big ask! While there are companies like that out there the depressing reality is that there are not many and finding them is difficult.

That's where I can help. I worked for a skin care product manufacturer so I know all the industry secrets. I've reviewed hundreds of skin care products. Use the links in the author resource box below and I'll guide you to some exceptional anti aging skin care products whose all natural formulas have 2-3 times more actives than the majority of skin care companies (particularly the elite brands), charge about a third of the expensive major brands (and if you want to eat them you'll be quiet safe!)
